Professional Development

Education and Training

SBGA formed the School Facilities Management Institute (SFMI), a non-profit organization created for the express purpose of offering regional training programs on timely school facility management issues. SBGA and SFMI jointly offer affordable training on a variety of topics such as environmental issues, health and safety, regulatory & code compliance, energy efficiency, professional development, technical support and more.

Chapter Affiliation

Become a member of a NYS SBGA local chapter and attend regular monthly meetings to share information and generate new ideas by networking with your educational facility management peers. Excellent monthly programs with knowledgeable speakers on new regulations & technology to save school districts money.

Contacts, Conferences & Expositions

Develop lasting relationships with other professional colleagues through attendance at the annual conference and exposition. Participate in professional development sessions, view the latest in facility products and services, attend seminars and workshops on new technologies and techniques in the field and exchange ideas with other educational facility management professionals.

Scholarship Program

Dependent children of our members can apply for the SBGA Fred Hack Memorial Scholarship Awards each year to help defray the high cost of education. Applications are available in February and awards presented in June.

Members receive the association's monthly e-newsletters containing practical and timely information on issues facing the educational facility managers along with updates on association and chapter activities. These e-publications are also archived on the website so you can view them any time you want.

Online Membership Directory & Buyer's Guide

As a member you will be listed in our annual membership directory which will enable you to communicate with others in the association. This is of great assistance to help solve problems you may encounter. It also contains a listing of Associate Members who are pleased to serve your needs for supplies, equipment or services that each educational facility manager requires.

And new in 2008, SBGA is proud to offer an online membership directory, allowing members to locate one another.
